Clubs and societies

Student Life Gallery (2)

We have a variety of clubs and societies - some are very well established (est. 2017) and some are new or change year on year, depending on the student population and their interests.

You can find some of the current ones below; if you think something is missing and others are interested, you may be able to set up a new club!

Adventure Soc

Adventure Soc

Adventure Soc strives to help the student community experience more outdoor adventure in their lives. Each year we run a variety of exciting, adventurous trips which anyone is welcome to get involved with. From hiking to climbing to kayaking, there is no limit to our ambition.

Women in Engineering (WES)

Women in Engineering (WES)

WES is a national charity and a professional network of engineers, scientists and technologists aiming to support and inspire women to achieve; encourage the education of engineering; and support companies with gender diversity and inclusion.

As an affiliated group, we run events such as talks, discussions and in person get-togethers and networking. At the Institute, we run events for everyone to attend, and occasionally events open to only those of marginalised genders within engineering.

Beekeeping Society

Beekeeping Society

We keep bees of course! We have ~5 hives that live on campus, each with a buzzing colony of 20,000+ bees inside and potentially some ooey gooey honey too. The club owns and manages the colonies ensuring they're happy and healthy. If the hive is strong enough we also collect honey and if they're strong enough we sell some too! The main focus of the club though is caring for the wellbeing of the gals, with a bit of hodge-podge and DIY thrown in, with building/painting/fixing hives or sheds.

Volleyball club

We have fun playing volleyball and we've joined a Wiltshire league!

At the moment we run one session a week, a casual session for everyone. Anyone can join casual sessions, they're just for a bit of fun.
